| Having read this whole thread, and looking at both sides, I gotta agree more with BSPE. And I think there's a msiunderstanding of the definiton of 'submission' from the opposition. We need to remember that there are quite a lot of times where the English text just can't express the exact meaning that the Hebrew/Aramaic/Greek portrays. As with many different 'discussions' in the Christian world (eg. predestination v foreknowledge) the two sides will never see eye to eye. But we can take comfort that when we're in heaven, we will really understand what was meant. Does this mean we shouldn't strive to understand it now? Course not! But it does mean that there are times where, in love, we need to agree to disagree. It's different understandings slightly similar to this over the meaning of passages that led to the different denominations that we have today.
But, if anyone wants to take this idea on..... If all Christians are equal, as it says in Colossians, how can it be different in a marriage situation? Some food for thought..... |
