Christine Evans - Live at The Freedom Fest

Christine Evans

Live @ The Freedom Fest

Barrie, Ontario

Friday, August 17 6PM Main Stage

Saturday, August 18 9PM Edge Stage

After a powerful performance during Christian Heritage Day at Ontario Place in May, Christine was asked to perform at this year’s Freedom Festival. This is an important event for her since it offers her the opportunity to not only play with her new band featuring members of Half Past Forever but to share the stage and spend time with many of the artists she most admires.

PUSH, is an apt name for singer / songwriter Christine Evans’ second release. The gifted 17 year old has enough determination and motivation to allow her to, in addition to achieving great grades in school also work on her songs, continue her voice training and fulfill her commitment as artist ambassador for Kids Help Phone in Canada. In addition, Christine has also taken on a new position as proud representative for Operation Respect which is an anti-bullying organization in the US. While Christine’s days are full to the brim she states that she still aims for ‘Steady growth, not instant success”.

As with her debut CD, TAKE ME HOME, the raw emotional lyrics on PUSH are vivid, revelatory narratives of comfortable maturity, which although belying her youth is hardly surprising considering the amount this young woman has packed in to the last few years. PUSH provided her with the Album of the Year award this April at the Island Music awards, adding to her previous Song of the Year awards in 2004 and 2005.

“Christine is an impressive singer but what ultimately is her ace card is her songwriting. Other artists should be beating down her door to record her songs. Truly a gem.” Larry LeBlanc, Canadian Bureau Chief, (Billboard Magazine)

“If Take Me Home was a collection of songs that was more of an introduction than a firm direction Push shows control, as if Evans knew exactly what she wanted." Tom Harrison (The Province)

On August 17 and 18 Christine Evans at the Freedom Fest at the Burl’s Creek Family Event Park, just north of Barrie.
