| There's one bit (Ephesians, I think), where Paul refers to Satan as "the prince of powers of the air." Back then, the "scientists" didn't think air was as pure an element as fire. Plus, it kind of disses Jovial gods like, um, Jove and, um Jupiter and Zeus... Yeah. Actually it does kind of go after a fairly common misconception of God.
None of this necessarily means a corporeal satan, since the 'elements' were generally viewed metaphysically as well as physically until a couple hundred years ago.
