Need help.

My mom wasn't too crazy about the Rush concert we went to. I told her that God looks at the heart. But, she told me that God looks at the feet. I need some help. I like going to rock concerts, so I can have experience from learning from talented musicians(and Neil Peart did excellent) and really help create a Christian Rock/Metal band that's effective, but my mom keeps advocating a Holier-than-Thou attitude(I think). Any advice on what to do?

I've tried to talk. When I still try to tell her that God looks at the heart. She tells me that you can't serve two masters(such as God and Rock music)

When I was at the concert, there were some videos that were disgusting. For instance, when there was a guy in the video who tried to imitate the shape of a *****(sorry for the language) near his crouch. I know for a fact that it's wrong and I won't defend it. I tried to tell her that was one time, but she argues that once it has been done, it's all evil.

So, let me get this straight. If a CCM artist is caught having an Adulterous affair, does that make the CCM industry as a whole, evil?

I really need help.

Talk to your mom, not at her.

You're right, I'm sorry. I should not have said that. But honestly, to shun unbelievers because they sin, and not shun Christians when they sin, is so totally two-faced!

She doesn't only shame un-believers only, she also shames other believers because they sin to.

Okay, then it's not hypocrisy.

Honestly, thouhg, it they are showing filthy videos, I would stay away. If they weren't, and the lyrics were clean, I'd go for it.

While you do have a point, but the lyrics weren't all bad. I'd say that they were pretty alright.

It's truly amazing, but 99% of the time, what people need to hear most is what they put in their sigs.

"Don't criticize what you can't understand." - Bob Dylan

You have not taken the time to truly understand your mom's position, so you have no right to criticize her for it. Talk to her.

You have a point. But, I'm not the one criticizing her, she's criticizing me for the taste of music I like.

And you're criticizing her for criticizing you and for having an attitude.

I'm not trying to. This is something I'll have to talk with my youth pastor.

Yes I have a bit of advice for you, get away from secular garbage and pour in the christian bands into your mind, heart and soul. Christian musicians are experienced and talented musicians as well as their lyrics your mom will enjoy very much. I can suggest some very nice bands like Jars of Clay and Third Day - my personal favorites. There are so many others and I'm sure our brothers and sisters here can refer you to some other excellent christian bands to learn from.
