| What Are You Supposed to Do When... Your friend is constantly getting stoned and messing himself up.
Like honestly, what am I supposed to say to him?
"DON'T DO DRUGS"
That's not gonna make him stop.
Gahhh, I need help. |

| Call the cops on his ass. He'll thank you later.
Depending on what drugs he's doing and where he's getting them from, he could be doing harm to people other than himself.

| Haha, you don't get it.
His dad is a cop.
He's the one who gave him the stuff in the first place. |

| Call a different cop then, preferably not one in his dad's unit.
Corrupt cops are about the worst social evil in the world.

| I'm sure he doesn't want it to go on his record either.
It's unlikely your friend is going to stop without some kind of intervention.

| Look... I know you don't want to rat your friend out. If it were me, I probably wouldn't want to either. However, his behavior is not going to change without some kind of incentive (especially with his own father egging him on). If he's a close friend, refuse to see him or talk to him until he comes clean (or at least commits to becoming so, depending on how addictive the drugs in question are) and turns himself in. That's at least an incentive, and it keeps the responsibility on him instead of making you feel like a rat. If he refuses to do either of these things, though, make good on your end of the deal and leave him alone. He needs a good swift metaphorical kick in the pants to get him going in the right direction.

The fact is, life isn't like the Brady Bunch where everything goes back to normal at the end of the show...
If you really care about your friend then you will turn him in. It's the only way you can get him off drugs and, in all honesty, it probably wont work anyways but it's your best bet. Any real friend would never let their friend walk around stoned all the time... Drugs are serious, people are killed over drug deals all the time. I knew some guys growing up and they were always real nice until they got into high school and started dealing. Then they were selling with one of their friends (who I only knew in passing) and the guy they were selling to decided to kill the other guy and take the drugs without paying. My friends are now sitting in jail (for murder) because they drove away from the scene of the crime and withheld evidence and told a lie to protect themselves.
Looking back, I should have reported them the first time I heard about them getting high.
True story.

| Actually, I disagree somewhat. Turn in his father for giving him the drugs. A public complaint will have to be investigated and in this way not only will you get your friend's problem out in the open where hopefully he can get help, but you will (if nothing else) make the dad think twice before doing something like this again. |
