Drum Programming

Due to the fact that I don't really have any coordination, space time and money for a real drumset, I'm recording all the drums for any tracks I may create myself.

I have a midi keyboard and quite a variety of different sounding drums.

I don't really know much about rhythm or patterns or whatnot, can someone give me some basic instruction about what drums commonly hit and when (i.e. the snare hits on every half note the cymbals hit on every eighth) I know that there is so much variation that needs to take place, but if someone could give me a link to a site, or some info just to get me started being able to make decent sounding drumbeats, I would be so happy.

I don't mean for someone to explain to me everything to make me an awesome drummer, I'm looking for something really simple here, just something better sounding than a metronome.

I can record in multiple layers, and also have the ability to correct rhythm mistakes, just incase that mattered. (aka, I don't have to be coordinated to record whatever I'm going to do)

Thanks
