| Dreamweaver.
If you don't want to spend the money to get it, Rapidweaver I hear is pretty good, but seems to be more for templates and not much of your own coding like Dreamweaver can be. It's like the middle ground between iWeb and Dreamweaver.
EDIT: I'm not familiar with it, but I read a little bit about Coda, and it might be worth checking out.

| All you need is HTML, CSS and Javascript to build a decent site. You could use w3schools.org to learn HTML, and I think they teach CSS on there as well.

I don't think I've ever used anything beyond a text editor to make a webpage...well, okay, I had to use something else to make a few graphics to put up on there, but hey, it's not perfect!

It was part of my HTML class. I picked up just enough Javascript and CSS along the way to get by, but I do admit that I have gotten a little lazy and have been using Dreamweaver. But only because I got sick of coding every little aspect. Still, even if you plan on using DW or another WYSIWYG, you need to learn at least HTML. DW isn't perfect in its coding and you will have to correct things from time to time.

| Flash is a little difficult to learn. I myself am still a complete beginner at it, but I aspire to learn it in time. Javascript is VERY useful, especially when it comes to site navigation. Learn it.

I use Nvu from time to time as well. It's WYSIWYG but let's you edit the raw code as well. |
