unlocking a program that's not responding

we had a computer a while ago that had windows 95 on it and it also had norton systemworks installed. every once and a while the computer would lock up but when we pushed ctrl-alt-delete there was a thing that you could click on to unlock the computer and most of the time it worked. i think it might have been a fecture that came with norton systemworks. are there any software programs that you can buy or download that would do the same thing?

There were plenty of programs that claimed to "fix" Windows 95. In my experience, they all made the problems worse.
Anyways, are you asking for Windows 95? What operating system are you using now?

That shouldn't be needed on XP. You should be able to close the program without restarting the computer.
Is there a particular program that is giving you trouble?
