Post Smashing Pumpkins drum lesson

Can someone give me some advice on two Smashing Pumpkins songs? I'm learning both "Quiet" and "Geek U.S.A."

For "Quiet," is Jimmy Chamberlain using a double bass pedal only for the beginning segment?

As for "Geek U.S.A," can some give me advice on to adjust my speed so I can get to the level of ability to play the song.

Please let me know.
