Playing by ear

Does anyone else play by ear?

I can read music but I'm not real good at playing written music. I do best at playing by ear.

Play about six different instruments. I learned them all by ear. I learned to read music , but every time I try to play by the written music, I ens up playing by ear. As soon as I get the first few notes, it is like my instincts take over. Playing by ear is just natural too me.

Same here, I play everything by ear, although I only play four different instruments.

I play by ear even though I know the theory of reading notes. My sight reading is terrible cause I just haven't done it enough. So I don't have much of a repoirtiore. It's just to frustrating to pour over a piece of music you know you could play if you just heard it a few times. I've decided recently to not let my sight reading effect my learning of songs and try to use my ear more. But I do want to develop this area though.
