Spider Jerusalem's just too smug and sociopathic. The book's one big attack on Straw Men caricatures of viewpoints the author doesn't like.

Definitely. I'm trying to make my way through the classics. No rush though. I won't be able to read it any time soon. I picked up The Dark Knight Returns, but I'm only slowly making progress because of school.

I was flipping through Watchmen yesterday - looks cool, I will pick it up for sure. I was in a bit of a rush, so I didn't look through any of the ones that Jeffery had sudgested, but I will soon.
I only had $12 on me, so I went for Doktor Sleepless (1) and and Black Summer (0 and 1).

How about the Eternals? Would anyone consider them essential?

The new series? It's reasonable, but it's nowhere near essential.

The original. I read the new one and I like the idea. But most of it stated how hinged it was on the genius of the previous generation. I have not read the original ones and was hoping for some input on that.

I got the Watchmen TPB from the comic shop here. It took them about two weeks to get it for me. I started reading it yesterday and am about half-way through it. Man...it's great.

I think I may go with The Dark Knight Returns next. I really want to pick up The Question as well. How many issues were there?

Being a huge Kurt Busiek fan and a huge Marvel Zombie, I am ashamed to say that I have not read "Marvels." I want to, but it isn't at my local library and I've never seen it at a comic store.

I picked up Marvels today. I'll tell you about it after a day or so (major test, quiz and assignment due tomorrow).

Alright, I finished reading Marvels and... wow. The storyline was phenominal, the art was my favorite kind of comic art, and everything went so well. I must admit to being let down by the ending, but because it wasn't a good ending. Just the way the main character dealt with everything in the end (I won't spoil it). This may very well be an Essential.
