Yeah. They are pretty much the same type of quarterback, so he could help him develop his skills.

I'm not sure about Gabriel, and Porter is sort of the Randy Moss personality (I'm bigger than the team/limited effort when losing).

And I wonder how much Culpepper has left. I think Russel could start half the games this year.

I agree if i had russel i would trade him. Its rediculous. He has to prove himself!!!!! and he hasnt done that in the NFL yet. If in a year he shows promise then renegociate. But he desereves even less a contract now.

There should be a base rookie salary based on position or round chosen, then allow the teams to renegotiate mid-season with well-performing rookies.

I think they are pretty close now. According to Sportcenter, Russell wants 34 mil guaranteed and the Raiders are only willing to pay him 31 mil. Russell should just give now if he wants to play at all this year.

Either way thats a lot guaranteed for someone who never really was spectacular in college. He didnt put up amazing numbers and never was in contention for the heisman.Yes he does have a lot of physical attributes...a strong arm,he can move pretty well, hes huge. But he wasnt amazing.Even against Tennessee when he threw 3TD's(?) he still had 2 INT.I wouldnt even give him 31 mil guaranteed.ROTY:Calvin Johnson.

I odn't know if he deserves that much, but they kinda have to give him big money just because he was #1. And I think that is why they got Culpepper: so he could mentor him and develop his skill to become an elite QB in th NFL.

He is my pick for bust of the draft. Drafting potential alone is a big risk. Look at David Carr's first few seasons, or Alex Smith's. I don't think the Raiders are run nearly as well as either of those organizations these days. I think that Russel is going into a situation much like Joey Harrington did, and his carreer will look similar.

I think he'll do better than Harrington in the long run (big duh-uh) but yeah his for couple a season are gonna be rough. He doesnt have a solid receiving corps and really no solid RB to speak of.The only thing Oakland has right now is D.And i think (granted iam biased somewhat) but as far as talent and having proved himself in the college game the best person like that in the draft was Calvin Johnson.Good numbers and consistent for 3 years all of em with an inconsistent QB.I thik another rookie that'll put up big numbers is LaRon Laundry.

So many rookies are overrated in college(eg. BRADY QUINN!), and it seems to carry into the draft/rookie season in the Nfl.

And I have a mathematical question: Tom Brady+Randy Moss=???

That's why you have to look at the smaller names. I see a couple sleeper WRs. RBs and QBs are tough though; only the big names get playing time first couple years, and it takes injuries to make good room.

That's why you see so many surprises every year player-wise, where an unknown 3rd or 4th year guy (sometimes older) comes out of no-where to lead the league in passing/rushing/receiving etc.
