| The person who invented those stickers should be thrown in jail.
Seriously. I ordered CDs online a few weeks ago and was thrilled to find they just had cellophane. |

Opening a Cd part 1
Ok, what you need is,
A wrapped cd (I'm not saying that this is a particularly good cd, but it was a free promo, and it's the only one I have wrapped. And me being the goober that I am, I didn't realize that this one did not have a sticker, so....)
And A Sharp pointy instrument of death (Preferably a razor)
-------------------
Ok, what you need to do is slice the wrapper off (I usually do it in that little groove where the cover meets the thing that the actual cd is held)
If you don't have a sharp pointy instrument of doom, but have some fingernails, just rubb them up and down the spine of the CD. Be sure to really get into the groove of the case. It usually works for me.
(part 2 in next post)

| i've had some that were really easy to open and some that were stupidly difficult, older CDs particularly (because the adhesive gets drier and stickier over time). I'm very picky about getting the entire sticker removed though... |

| I tend to just open mine by chopping it open with an axe. If I accidentally get the disc while I'm chopping, I just get a new one.

Well, we offer to open the cds where I work. and after opening about 50-100 cds a day, you tend to do it fast....
Ok, part 2.
What you need to do is put your fingernail under that little tab thingy holding the cover to the actual case...(in the picture, the cd is facing down, if that helps any)
Once you get the fingernail under it, just slide it off. (NOTE: with some 2 disc sets, you can not do this. the cover thingy is connected some how.)...
And then you just fold the cd back, (and once again, me being the goober, I did not realize that this cd did not have a sticker. sorry.)
and peel the sticker off
Then you put the cover back on, and there you have it! A fresh, opened cd! It's the easyest, fastest way I've found.

| that's a really good idea for removing the sticker. this is really the most usefully educational thread I've read on CGR in quite some time.
I really want to buy a CD now to try this out...though I guess I'd have to buy a new CD... |
