| Lookin 4 New guitar (opinions,guidance, and knowledge needed) Hey guys, i'm on the look out for a new electric guitar. So here's the deal, should i go for solid body or semi hollow body guitars? which one's better? And I've been eyeing the fender deluxe telecaster, but I can't help but to wonder which one is the better choice. Telecaster or Stratocaster? Opinion plz!! |

#2 | | They really do! | Neither is "better." They both have their own distinct sound. Play both of them and decide for yourself.
What style do you play?

| You really won't get a consensus on this question because it's largely what fits your playing needs the best. I own and play Strats, a Tele and a LP. After many years of playing, my favorite is the Strat. |

| Telecasters basically rock.

| from my experience of playing guitar, telecasters have a twangy and a very very spice tone. Stratocasters have a smooth and mellow tone but yet if you could tone it up right it can get the tone spicy too.
Which one of these floats your boat?

| Well semi-hollow body guitars are a whole nother monster from solid body guitars. I have a 335 copy and this thing made my tone come alive, not that it was dead or bad it just brung out a whole other part that I never knew was there. I'm a Les Paul guy but I also love Explorers, Teles, PRS/PRS copys and really pretty much anything as long as it plays and feels good. For me Strats are kinda hit and miss, some I like and some I can't stand. Just go play any thing you can get your hands on and get the guitar that fits you the best. You never know something like a Dean: ML(like what Dimebag Darrel playerd) might be the guitar thats right for you. |

#8 | | NO | Well, I would say that I like the tele more than a strat. I just find it easyer with the 2 pickups, than with the 3. Bu what I lik more than both the tele and the strat is my hollow body. It's a Johnson Delta Rose, a sort of knock off of the les paul hollow body (but a heck of a lot cheaper!). |

the strat is a pretty versatile guitar and looke really good. the tele has kind of a "twangy" sound to it, but i'm not too keen on the looks or sound myself. and the semi-hollow body has a nice smooth sound and feel, and looks pretty nice!actually, for my style, which is anything from acoustic to hard rock, i'd go with the gibson les paul standard or studio. and if you want it cheaper, get an epiphone! hope it helped! |

| If I had to pick between just a Strat or Tele, it would be a Tele. More than likely a two humbucker Tele, but a Tele none the less. |

Strat = anything
Tele = anything
Semi-hollow = anything

It's gotta be something you enjoy . |

What style of music do you play? Why are you limiting yourself to Strats and Teles? I'm going to agree with almost everyone else so far - go to a store, play several guitars, and see what you like. And don't just buy one that "looks cool". |

#15 | | (or 3+4=7) | Teles are beautiful, versatile and awesome.
Strats are nice, but over-rated. |
