| Farewell! CGR and CPF,
You have been my best friend for almost a year now, but I must bid adieu now. I'm leaving this weekend for Manti, after that it debate camp, then a week with grandma, topped of with 5 weeks working with a film crew in Virginia. I won't be able to get to a computer more than every couple of days in Manti, and I don't know how much free time I'll have at camp and while I'm working.
I'll drop in when I can, but it might not be very often. I shal return in full force on August 12th, or somewhere around there.
I've played all 63 tournaments that I'm in in the arcade to the fullest, and if I'm holding something up, send me a PM, and I'll take care of it as soon as I get to a computer.
Thank you to Christine (J_freek), Claw, Elen, Adam, Sean, Shift, Axguitar, Jael_Rock, demon_hunter, Teh Slope, and whoever wasted tons of time in the Year Long thread. You've been awesome friends, and I can't wait until I can come back and hang out with you guys.
Signing off,
Ruth in Utah
(Yes, I just posted my name publically for the first ever here on CGR)

| I think this may be why she didn't tell us her name before this. |

| Yeah, partly. I still wasn't very comfortable with the internet, and publishing my name, but I'm fine with it now.
I also didn't want my family to be able to figure out that I was Katze if they should happen to get on CGR, but I don't care about that any more.

| No, I'm leaving anyway. It just happend to have interesting timing.
This isn't the only time that I've had bad timing. The other time I took a break from CGR was the day that Chris CPFed my blog, and it looked like I was just mad at him.

| No Katze all summer?
*sigh* Well then, have fun, and wave at people you don't know, and tell other people you don't know "happy birthday". Just for fun. |

| This is part of the e-mail from the director: Quote:
This first movie will be similar in style, scope, and production of "Facing the Giants." (But it's not about football.) Our story centers on a CLASH of worldviews played out in the lives of a postmodern family, whose son, a new believer, attends PHC and competes at the Moot Court National Championship.
That's where you come in.
Given your involvement in NCFCA, you may be interested in participating in our film program, auditioning for one of the lead or supporting roles. Lead roles and some supporting roles are PAID positions.
There are FOUR lead roles in this movie. Each lead role pays $100 per day for 25 days, plus salary deferments, which depending on your experience could be up to another $8,000 per role. (Deferments are compensation paid to cast and crew from the film's gross revenues after the investors recoup their investment.) Supporting roles have fewer days of filming, and have much less pay and no deferments. Background and extras will not be paid, except for a copy of the movie when it is released. Great food will be served during production.
CALEB - A gifted pre-law student with great oratorically skills. Caleb is a new believer who transfers to Patrick Henry College (PHC) to begin his sophomore year. Upon Caleb's arrival at PHC, he immediately faces three obstacles: 1) The challenge of being surrounded by home educated students since he is a product of a public/private school upbringing. 2) Quelling his intellectual ego as he pursues the Moot Court National Championship, for which PHC is the top ranking school. 3) The growing tension with his old mentor and closest confidant, Judith, a feminist constitutional lawyer, who happens to be his mom.
RACHEL - PHC sophomore who becomes Caleb's Moot Court partner and an intern in Judith's law office. Rachel was last year's Moot Court national champion. She is the idealized home school young woman: gentle, humble, earnestly seeking the Lord. Rachel is cautious, guarded with her feelings, which Caleb misinterprets as distant, even elitist in attitude. Nevertheless, Caleb is intrigued.
JUDITH - (early to late 40's). Caleb's mom and a feminist constitutional lawyer. Her secular worldview begins to clash with her son and husband's increasingly biblical worldview. Judith feels betrayed and abandoned. First, by her husband, Don, and now by her son. (It was Don who led Caleb to Christ after being born-again himself a decade ago). After years of strained marital civility, their home is fracturing, pulled apart at the seams by diverging dreams for Caleb: Judith hangs onto the dream that Caleb would become a future law partner at her firm fighting to protect women and children's rights as she has done all her life.
DON - (mid to late 40's). Caleb's father and a biology professor at a secular University. He was born again 10 years before and had led Caleb to Christ. He is untenured and fears for his job, given his increasingly conservative views, especially regarding evolution vs. creationism. In contrast to his wife's dream for Caleb, Don prays that Caleb would anchor his talents upon God's truth, use them for God's purposes, and not waste them as Don did before he was saved.
DAVID - gregarious home schooled PHC sophomore - Caleb's roommate who sometimes takes advantage of his more "naive" roommate, David, (or so Caleb thinks.) In reality, the Holy Spirit is using David's grace and self-sacrifice to convict Caleb of his self-centeredness and penchant to win at all cost. And could it be that David is secretly in love with Rachel?
OUR GOALS:
One of the goals of this film program is to train and raise up a legion of talented AND qualified film directors who are strongly Christian. Right now the Hollywood industry is forced to hire only secular directors for movies such as "Amazing Grace" and "Chronicles of Narnia" because there are no Christian directors who can be entrusted with big-budget, high-profile major films. While there are many Christians working in the film industry and many Christian students are attending film schools, the status quo has failed. The launching of Advent Film Group, LLC will be working to change that.
This film program is designed to produce five feature films over an initial three-year cycle. Our movies will be filmed in HD digital format. We are also building a solid marketing and distribution system to ensure this program is self-sustaining and serves the needs of our audiences, sponsors, and students.
To learn more about the film program, please visit our website: www.adventfilmgroup.com. (It's still in beta so not all of the links work.)
