| Zombies: Surviving an Attack - Other Accessories/Items It's 6:40 am. You woke up 10 minutes ago to find that there has been an outbreak of zombies. You just finished gathering weapons, getting changed, and making notes of weapons and armour/clothing you hope to acquire. You just saw a zombie get smacked by a car while crossing the street. You're just about ready to go, but you realise there are things you might want to/need to take with you. What items do you NEED to take with you (aside from weapons/clothing)? What items do you own/have in your home (aside from weapons/clothing) that you think might help you in surviving a zombie attack? Say you had room to carry 2 emotional/luxury items (nothing huge), what would you carry? What items do your friends own that might help you to survive? Say you thought about this ahead of time, and was able to put together a zombie survival kit of 10-15 items (excluding weapons/clothing). What would they be, and why?
If you have any other questions/comments, feel free to add them. |

If you have any other questions/comments, feel free to add them. | I would put everything in a hiking backpack (looks a lot like a school backpack except it's a bit reinforced; NOT one of those huge buggers that fits everything but the kitchen sink). I would take nonperishable rations, a radio (to listen to current events), cell phone, canteen, mp3 player, one of those metal enclosed Bibles, a change of clothes/underwear (not cotton), a windbreaker, a lighter, some utensils/metal plate, a small cup (maybe a collapsible one), some flares, a hatchet, a Swiss army knife, and some batteries for my radio. I didn't get to type in the weapons thread, so I would additionally take a shotgun and shells. Oh, and maybe some military boots. |

| What items do you NEED to take with you (aside from weapons/clothing)?
I need to take my inhalers with me, and possibly my allergy medication. It'd probably be prudent to take any antibiotics we have in the house. What items do you own/have in your home (aside from weapons/clothing) that you think might help you in surviving a zombie attack?
A radio (with batteries), torch (with batteries), some rope, canned food, can opener, bottled water, a couple of butane cannisters, matches, a lighter, a small blow torch, toolbox, some pots and pans, a cellphone, oh and some blankets Say you had room to carry 2 emotional/luxury items (nothing huge), what would you carry?Maybe a photo album, and perhaps a laptop with wifi to keep communications with the outside world. Hopefully the zombies haven't destroyed the internet What items do your friends own that might help you to survive?Honestly, I don't really know. They've got canned food and utensils as well. Oh, plastic cups. (Serves double duty as thing to serve food in, and drink). They'd have tools as well. Nothing specific that I don't have though, I don't think. Say you thought about this ahead of time, and was able to put together a zombie survival kit of 10-15 items (excluding weapons/clothing). What would they be, and why?
1. A torch (I'd go with a solar torch, but I don't know how much time you'd be spending outside, and I don't know how good they work) and batteries.
2. a hand crank radio
3. waterproof matches
4. sleeping bag/blanket (not sure if a sleeping bag would be practical if you needed to get away fairly quickly)
5. rope
6. lots of bandages
7. rolls of tape
8. scissors
9. an adjustable wrench
10. phillips screw driver (not sure why, it just might come in handy)
11. disinfectant
12. a lightweight pot to boil water/cook food
13. spare inhalers
14. fully charged cellphone
That's all I can think of. |

| Doh, should have went back and read jengoesup's post. Swiss army knife in place of the scissors and phillips screwdriver plus you'd get a cork screw and tweezers! |

| Oh yeah But I forgot a flashlight! Or a torch. (Candles would be cool too). And medical supplies. Mm. I feel more prepared for a zombie attack (or other apocalyptic disaster) having reading your post. |

Originally Posted by Kepa Say you thought about this ahead of time, and was able to put together a zombie survival kit of 10-15 items (excluding weapons/clothing). What would they be, and why? | -PDA (and charger) - keep notes, also contains a ton of e-books for reading in spare time
-Notebook (and pencils) - keep more notes
-The cheapest general purpose toolkit around (duct tape, Swiss Army Knife, WD-40, hammer, handaxe, lighter) - just in case
-Solarcane - duh
-First aid kid - duh
-Binoculars
-Canteen
-Antibiotics
-Flashlight (got one of the shake-em LED kind that stays pretty darn bright for up to an hour off of 10 seconds of shaking)
-Backpack to keep the notebook, first aid kit, and other shtuff in
Going off of stuff in the house. I counted the PDA charger and the pencils as a paired items, and the items in the general purpose toolkit seperately. Going against my own advice against wearing heavy clothing, I can carry all that stuff except the notebook, first-aid kit, and backpack in my jacket or on my person and still move about unhindered.
