I think that a lightsaber would probably be a fairly effective weapon against zombies.

It's certainly nerdy enough, anyway.

A lightsaber would be quite handy.

It is nerdy enough.

What do you have around you/in your house that could be used as a weapon against a zombie attack?
In my dorm:
Knives of the table eating variety
a fairly hefty umbrella
giant ziploc bags that I could, if necessary fill with hefty items and smash zombies with them
an airsoft pistol
two metal bars that would normally be used to hold up files in a drawer
a stapler
scissors
my guitars (one in hardshell case, which I think I would opt for)

At home:
Shovel
Large varieties of cooking/chef knives
airsoft pistol again
golf clubs
Sledgehammers
Tools and power tools
Crowbar
Force FX Lightsaber

Yeah. I'm screwed either place if I have no time to aquire other weapons.

If you were only able to carry 2 of those weapons, what would you choose? Please give reasons as to why you would choose them.

From my dorm:
I'm gonna go with carrying a couple knives around (since they're small enough that I can store more than one) and a couple ziploc bags stuffed with heavy items to knock some zombies around with. Or exchange the knives with those rods that I mentioned, because they're just a bit more hefty and would probably do more damage per blow.

At home:
I'm definitely going to have a large chef knife with me (probably like a 10 incher) and possibly the shovel, because it has range and some power behind it. My golf clubs would do me no good because they're made from that new metal that isn't as heavy.

What do your friends have that could be used as a weapon against zombies?

At school:
Instruments
various guns (one of my best friends dad owns somewhere in the area of 30 firearms. All different kinds)
Swords

At home:
More powerful airsoft guns
Paintball guns

Do you know the location of your closest gun store?
At school:
Yep. 'Tis about... a 7 minute drive... about 4 with no traffic or zombies in my way.

Home:
If wal-mart counts, about... 5 minutes.

What do you think is the ultimate weapon to use against zombies? Please give reasons as to why you would choose it.
I'm going with the lightsaber as well... Why? Because it pwns, that's why. Plus, no spillage of zombie juice with a saber.

Feel free to discuss any aspect of weapons for zombie killing in here.
No. I would probably become a zombie and get killed by some poor sap who thought I was dangerous.

I think that about settles it. You can split 'em straight down the middle which will prevent the problem of severed heads, and lightsabers do not take much effort to use or need recharged in any way.

I personally would like to see a mace added to the weapon choices. I would take this bad boy over just about anything.

my first thought was "it's fluid...as long as i'm alive i'm good to go..."

a mace would be great...

and honestly, I don't think a modern aluminum baseball bat would be nearly as bad a weapon as it seems it has been made out to be...at least not in the right hands...which reminds me that there is a Sports Chalet nearby.

Katana = fail against zombies. Crowbar is the way to go.

Lightsaber would be particularly effective against zombies, even without Jedi powers. You win the internet.

This ain't D&D, boy! Fail! Maces will tire you out quicker than a crowbar,

"In the right hands" would be big league baseball hitters with record homerun scores. Bats are meant to push objects away, not smash.

uhh....when it comes to smashing skulls, i'm pretty sure it'd only take one stroke with an aluminum bat. A wood bat would definitely tire you out faster (given the same reach, a wood bat will generally be heavier)

I definitely agree that a crowbar is superior, but I really can't think of any situation where I've used a bat to "push objects away".

I have to disagree with you on this one...sorry. There are several lightweight maces that weigh equal to or less than your average crowbar.

A baseball bat pushes the balls away at a high speed. It doesn't smash the balls right there.

Can you pry open crates, grates, and doors with a mace? No.

And are the lightweight maces actually combat ready, or just replicas? This is a problem you'll face with weapons on the market that aren't meant to be used as tools.

heh...point...but then again, I can't think of very many hand-held objects that are going to crush a baseball in general. comparing a human head (basically a hard hollow shell) to a baseball seems a bit silly to me.

The bat will give a little bit more bounce than other weapons. Which is also a potential problem for a mace, sword, or other traditional weapon if they're just made for display.

My only weapon would probably be my baseball bat. I do not have much else around my house. I would prefer to have that, an Axe and a shotgun. Rachel says she has a big ol' knife, but I would be happy without a knife.
