It's not amazing in the least, but it is a good metal album.

And you said it's some of the most boring music you've heard. I'd disagree, because the three CDs with original material they made after it(Load, Reload, St. Anger) are much worse than the Black Album. Much, much worse. I mean, at least the Black Album still sounded somewhat like their earlier material.

I'll remind myself to never listen to those albums, then.

I'm listening to Art Blakey now to counter the not so good metal/rock I just pushed myself through.

I just found the solos boring, the riffs to be rather lame and the choice of tempos and grooves in the music to be sloppily put together, all creating, in my opinion, a very boring album.

Like I said, it's not a great album, not like Master of Puppets, ...And Justice For All, Ride The Lightning, and Kill 'Em All were, but it's still a good metal album.

Master of Puppets. That's the other one I should listen to... I can tolerate the song itself up until it comes back in to the groove for the solo section. Then it becomes meaningless noise to me at that point.

Another problem I have with this album (and with Master... the song) is the abundance of six minutes songs with no development whatsoever.

You definitely ought to give ...And Justice For All a listen. Very progressive stuff.
