two weeks ago I got mine in my email at 6:45PM on Thursday. I live 20-30min away, and practice at 7PM...

He actually asked me why I didn't bring music.

ouch...I suppose to my own benefit, my worship team does supply the music and give us binders to keep it in, so while I may not always have my music ordered, I can pull the music out of the binder

Both our adult and youth worship teams have a constant roster that doesn't change really, which I prefer myself. I personally dislike having a team that rotates, cause 1) first of all, our bands have grown so much and become so comfortable with the song because it is the same group of guys everytime. It becomes a very tight-knit team because of this.
2) a lot of worship leaders rotate people I think I because they figure won't want to do it every week, and i personally don't understand why someone wouldn't i guess. maybe this one is just me.

Honestly, I'd love to be in rotation if time allowed for it. Certainly, I wouldn't want to do it if I felt my lack of participation would mean a reduction of music "quality" (for lack of a better term), but given that each rotation was skilled (maybe skill sets differ but are nonetheless skilled) I wouldn't have a problem sitting down in the congregation every once in awhile.

At the moment I am leading worship 3 times a month with one weekend off.. I look forward to that sunday off becaus I get to experience worship as one of the congregation and I get to "receive" and be an example to others in the congregation in so many ways, not just when I'm leading. Showing that I'm not only a worshipper when I'm on team... I can be a worshipper when I'm with the people too.

Exactly...we've actually thought about reducing our vocalist count just to have them in strategic spots in the congregation to encourage others to sing through their own worship.

I agree. I'm on the worship team most Sundays and most Wednesdays. This isn't generally a problem: I love being on the worship team and worshiping with my guitar. However, I also enjoy being out there and receiving, praying for people, whatever. It's always refreshing to take a break before you get burned out.

The one thing I would change is that we have practices once a month, and we find out what we're playing on Sunday morning, unless it's a special song, then I might get an e-mail around Saturday. That's the one thing I'd like to change...

Very true. I and one other person thought along that same line. On one hand it's nice that you have so many people who can do this, but to have a core group is probably better.

We went through a time where we not only had two different services, but two different bands. It got to the point that the group I was in was getting left back a little bit. We had about 30 minutes between services and if the first service went long, tough on us as far as a soundcheck or such. If we had 10 minutes to get our gear set up and play, we had 10 minutes.

It's tough enough as it is right now with "interchangeable parts".

That's how we roll.
Every individual instrument has a binder and the singers share two. Also, everyone is free to make their own personal copies as well and I encourage that.
I also post up future to-do songs on the intarweb for all to d/l and preview before practice and sometimes hand out CDs, lead sheets and lyrics weeks/months in advance if there are a lot of tunes to learn.

We practice on Saturday nights because we meet in a YMCA. So at 6 p.m. we start setting up everything (myself and the setup team and sometimes a sound person), and then at 7:45 p.m. the band shows up. We usually rehearse until around 9:30 or 10 p.m., and then we rehearse on Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m.

I usually have songlists picked out a month in advance, but usually my worship team members don't really want them that early, so I make CDs of the songs, and my worship team members pick them up the Sunday before they are on the schedule. That gives them a whole week to listen to the songs. Then, I make sure and get them a music packet through email by Tuesday afternoon. This music packet has a cue sheet and then the music to all the songs we are doing that week. I've found that giving them a music packet makes it easier on their schedule rather than having to go to our intranet site and find the songs, or find them in a binder. I have included an example for your viewing enjoyment.

I have introduced a system that works pretty well after all others failed miserably. ONly took me 15 years lol.

1. We rehearse every Monday without fail unless you are dead that week.

2. I issue all the songs out on the Wednesday before the Monday

3. A 14 song CD is issued to everyone twice a year (NEW SONGS ONLY)

4. The Trainee worship leaders get there chance to lead on a Monday

5. Whilst the band is rehearsing I send the vocalist to do warm up lessons then they practice songs with Harmonies etc.

6. Everyone then comes together for worship time and then we feloowship

7. Rosters go out two months in advance by email

8. Every musician and vocalist gets one Sunday off per month.

9. Everyone prints out and is repsonsible for bringing their own music.

Check out the songs from the new CD.

The things we laugh and joke about
Are the things we scream and shout about
And the things we rip and tear apart
Are the things we held closest to our heart.
