| So I wanna be a missionary!!! Yeah, so as I said before, I wanna be a missionary. I was wondering what I could be doing at the age of 15 to prepare myself. First option is of course, going on short term mission trips. I have been on two. 1st was to Romania, where we went there and helped Build a Childrens camp for the Gypsy's. The second mission trip I went on was to Jamaica, just this past february. Most people think of Jamaica as being the little resorts and pretty beaches. But no, they have poverty out the wazoo... And God has opened up an opportunity to go to Hungary with my school this upcoming September. It is not technically a missions trip, it is a leadership conference, but we will be helping another school around the area.

| Study and learn the language(s) of where you want to go. That would be my advice.

2nd, I'd suggest learning about the cultures.
3rd obviously praying for direction of where you want to go
4th I'd say learn your bible like the back of your hand. It says we are to be able to defend our faith 'in season & out of season". Just because you're not in the 'mission field' per say yet...doesn't mean you can't turn whereever you live into your mission field. Know your bible and be able to respond to questioning about your faith. That will really help. |

| Get to know a missionary or two. Get some bios of missionaries and read them. Pray about it.

| I would say that the most important thing is to have an open mind about the whole thing. As we all know, we can't always see the logic in God's workings but the end is always worth the wait.

| As you prepare yourself, take time to introduce your plans to your family especially your mom, unless of course you want to surprise them.

I would say it is the single most important thing to consider. If some bloke comes up to me on the street in very broken English or through a translator and isn't asking for directions to the airport I am not going to take him seriously, it is that simple. If you really care, you would take the time to at least be able to communicate. Not to mention how much of a wrong message you can send misusing a language. Take German for example, the word for Christ and Christian are the exact same word in German. A German with a poor grasp of English might come up to me and tell me that he is a Christ... I would be very scared and walk away.

| Well, as the child of missionaries who have been serving for 20 years, I can be sure of one thing. If you want to be a committed missionary, you have to have immense faith. In every respect, for every need, during persecution...everything, you got to have strong faith and trust in God. So I'd say, starting building up and relying on God for the simple and big things right from now on. You'll see how restful you can be during the worst of problems having faith like this.
