Funny, I playe flute but at first it was hard for. I found harmonica much easier.

Flute is much harder to play than harmonica.

I speak from experience.

I find that flute can add a beautiful texture in more relaxed songs.

It is really a simple instrument to play the trick is to get the art of bending the notes. once you learn how to control the bends everything else falls into place. I have been playing for 35 years. The key is to be committed to the instrument. Most people give up on it to soon.
Here is a links to a videos I have on you tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8R5qAVTlVG4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isV6lnSIUzs
Check it out I am praying about doing a series of videos on worship harmonica,
I have a second video there were I make one of my harmonicas sound like a flute see if you can tell me how many harmonica are being played there on fire and cloud.

I agree with you 100%, I had for more flutes have a nice peaceful sound to them, especially the pan flute which for me is harder to play the more coventional flutes.

I wish I could come and hear you play Blayne. I play every week too and I don't know if I play ok or just badly but the congregation absolutely love the Irish whistle now but they still call it the flute....so I just let them. I usually use low whistles D-A for the more worshipful songs and the high whistle for the CCM stuff and it seems to work well for me.
