World Bank

Although I'm not a fan of Wolfowitz, here's a WSJ article about the politics behind the spin. Not that Wolfowitz is great, but there appears to be some separate motives besides eradication of corruption.

Of course there are. Does the existance of an ulterior motive by some of the players effect whether he is or is not corrupt / ineffectual?

No, but corruption eradicated by the corrupt means that getting rid of Wolfowitz is ineffectual. On the other hand, my dislike for Wolfowitz is more along the lines that he has no business running a bank. Yeah, he doesn't need to be running the World Bank, but that doesn't mean we should put a known international funds squanderer in charge. That would probably be worse.

I do agree that putting someone worse in charge would be worse. I don't know who would succeed him or if that person is worse or not.
