| Six babies on Labour Day! My Cat Sapphy had her kittens two days ago. She woke me up at about 5:00am so I could be with her as she had them. I've never experienced anything like that before. Most cats go and hide to do that and if you make the mistake of touching them they carry the kittens away!
I watched Sapphy throughout the whole process. I tried to leave her for a little bit at the start but she followed me to the washroom and would not leave without me.
It was my pleasure to help her with the deliveries. She now has three white kittens, one black and white one and two multicolored ones.
I'm happy that it's all over for her because she was really big and seemed to be rolling rather than walking. It was fun to watch the way she would sit down to scratch her head. She'd sit and try to bring her head down towards her back paw and then scratch. I would laughs but still felt concerned for her.
Now I have to brace myself for the excitement when they start to run and play! |

#2 | | baby vending machine | wow, that is a unique experience. Our cat went under the bed to have her kittens. She let Chris touch them. And not a sound from her the entire time!

She carried them this morning and just in time too. My sister came by this morning with a dog (a terrier) who loves to chase cats. Once he comes to my home he would head for my bedroom or if he sees Sapphy he would start chasing her. He headed for the bedroom and Sapphy stood her ground this time. With six kittens she had no intention of letting him by. I stepped in to put the dog out, but not before Sapphy sank some of her claws into him and me. They are safe. |

| This kitten died on Monday. Her mom sat on her.
In this picture it was trying to stretch and ended up curling instead.
lol

| Some more pictures.
The first two show cleaning time! Sapphy looks like she has her hands full most times. I some times feel sorry for her. All those babies pushing and fighting to get some milk.
Their ears were closed. That's the first time have noticed that in kittens. The eyes are now starting to open. I guess I'll have to start lift my curtains out of the way! |

| I did not know a wet rag could work such wonders.
One of the kittens got what looked like an infection in it's left eye. The eye was sealed shut. I was very concerned because all the other kittens eyes had oppened completely and this one had only one! When I passed my finger on the eye it was rough to the touch. A friend of mine suggested that I use a warm wet cloth to clean the eye. I did so twice two nights ago and the eye opened the same night. By the next morning the eye was shut again.
I used the wet rag again and the kitten's eye has stayed open till this morning.
Thank God for that. |
