how to replace tubes

so i bought new tubes for my ac15, but i have no idea how to put them in. anyone help?

Twist and pull/push... they're like light bulbs... some screw in, others you push and turn... depends on the tube...

weird...I've never seen a tube that twists in...what amp uses those?

Yeah, I wouldn't reccomend twisting most tubes. Just pull.

I've never seen an amp with twist tubes... but i've seen twist tubes... so I figure, if they exist, then some amp must have them...

I was afraid replacing the tubes in my amp the first time. After all the horor storys I heard about people getting zapped, but I guess that has more to do with working on the amp like soldering etc.

I use quite a number of tubes... Some offbeat ones and I have not seen a screw in one.

AC-15's use el84's and 12ax7's IIRC, both of which pull straight out for certain!

You should be careful to line things up correctly when putting the new tubes back in - it's a unique kind of frustration to be holding an otherwise perfectly good tube with a metal-fatigued, broken off contact pin. Changing tubes is something that nobody should have to take the amp into the dealer to do, though.
