| The heavens declare his glory! I got to watch the sun set two days ago! It was an awesome experience. I went there feeling depressed yet I was determined to get out of the house and go and deliberately enjoy nature and I was not disappointed!
I left my home at about 5:00 pm. Took a bus to the beach about 15 minutes away and sat there to just watch the sun go down. My seat was a short cliff jutting above the sea. In order to get to it I had to walk through some short grass on the elevated section of the beach and take a step down onto the rocky surface of the cliff. I had no camera and no companion. It was just me, the sea, the sky and the sun and I sat on my rocky perch to enjoy.
After half an hour I was feeling like I'd been there too long...when is that sun going to set? Then I started talking to God. There were quite a few people who had been on my mind and I started interceding for them. Low and behold, shortly afterwards, the sun was beginning to do it's thing! It put on quite a show for me and I could only praise God! "THE HEAVENS WERE DECLARING HIS GLORY!"
There were a lot of clouds and I did not expect much but I got quite an eye full. the Sun went down slowly and hid behind the low clouds on the horizon. The orange hue lighted up the sky in a soft kind of way. The clouds had many different shapes and painted a wonderful picture. Some of them seemed to be inside of each other and I could see the outlines of the darker and smaller ones inside the bigger ones spread all across the horizon.
The most amazing thing was happening throughout the entire sunset. There were two streaks of blue steaming upward directly at the point the sun was setting. They seemed to imitate headlights. At the start they were big, bright headlights shining proudly. Then they started fading slowly but remained till the sun set completely. That was a really wonderful end to my day. I will do it again sometime.
Aaaaaaah. The simple pleasures of life. My spirits are lifted. The simple ways nature can remind me of the God I serve. |
