Question finding/projecting my voice & knowing what Key to sing in.

I cant sing very good,I don't know how to project my voice and on top of that,I don't know how to tell what Key I'm singing in or what key to sing in.

I sing like the person who's song I'm singing.and I sing very low and don't like it.I want to sing high and loud, soft and quiet....and I want to sing like me! not someone els.

Can someone give me some useful tips?

Learn to breathe, learn to match your voice to what's being played (hard to do without a keen ear), and practice. All of this is in the vocal advice thread however.

I'm not sure what you mean about knowing what key to sing in. Sing in whatever key is comfortable for your voice.

Care to post a clip of your singing? That might help us to give you some specific tips.

I'm sorry but I have an internet filter that blocks youtube. Could you post a clip directly here?

I can't see it right now... I can only view the one of you playing guitar.

I really can't hear you... in it...

Try this. Make another recording, but put the microphone 5 feet away from you and sing so that you can still be heard in it.

No, you'll have to sing out. They aren't necessarily the same.

Basically, it sounds to me like you're really holding back. As long as you're holding back, you won't be able to sing well. That doesn't mean you should scream. It just means you should sing out.

I agree. I think holding your voice back is causing you to constrict your throat which is very bad for your voice.

Some good deep breathing will not only help your voice but will also calm your nerves which will in turn help you to sing better.
