Guess what I just bought for myself as an early birthday present? A brand, spankin' new iPod video 60gb with blue leather case. I didn't get the iPod Classic, as I've heard it is prone to freezing up, but did get the white generation 5 iPod. Once it gets here (hopefully by Friday), I shall be in musical and television heaven, what with listening to my 3000+ songs and watching countless episodes of the Simpsons. Yay!

My friend has a video MP3 player (non-iPod), and it's pretty awesome. How big is it?
I'm taking 12 credit hours too; I know what you mean about fun first, school second, especially cause I'm used to homeschooling, which affords more flexibility....
Btw, do any(or all!) of your profs have illegible handwriting?

| Today is my birthday. I shall party tonight. Well, not really. I'll be going out to my favorite restaurant, then having cake and ice cream at home with my family. It should be good.
I just took a final in my Unix class. I'm confident I did well in it. I had an English paper due today, but because I did not receive any feedback from my Prof on the rough draft, I didn't turn it in today (he's OK with this since I didn't get the feedback necessary to make a final draft). I have Qbasic programming tonight--basically just an assignment to turn in.
This weekend, I'm going to be gone on retreat with my sister and mom. I won't have any internet access, but will bring my laptop for some school work that has to be done. It should be a good thing for me, as I'll be able to really refocus on God.

It's the white version and I guess is pretty small. My bro has an iPod and loves it, and my bro in law has a Creative Zen, which is something I considered buying, but I didn't want to have to buy a new FM transmitter. Quote: |

I mean, I did a lot of work in homeschool, but I had a lot of flexibility in when stuff was due. Plus, I didn't have to get up really early in the morning. Because of Calc, I have to get up early, but now, since I am dropping it, I can sleep in til 9AM. How many credit hours are you planning on taking in the Winter semester? Quote: |

Probably part of the reason why the class was so difficult for me, lol. My other Profs write well, for the most part. What about yours?
And thanks!

And thanks! | 1.Creative Zen is the one my friend has; he got it off e-bay for about $100 less then the list price
2.Yup! Everything is more rigid now....
I haven't really planned out the next semester yet....I'll get back to you!
3.My comp prof's notes on my papers are indecipherable! All I can pick out are individual words sometimes; I just look at the grade On the boards, the others write pretty well.
4.I always (when attending a party) thank that person for having the birthday so that I get cake!

| If only you were here, you'd be able to share with me as I eat a Michigan State Spartans-decorated funfetti cake and mint chocolate chip ice cream. I'll have to mail you some.
The grade is all that counts, haha. My prof made a lot of comments on my last paper, but I didn't care about those because I got an A. I rarely look at corrections--just that final letter grade. :P
The Zen is sweet. It has some features iPod doesn't have (longer battery life, microphone). Unfortunately, there aren't as many accessories for it. But it's probably the best overall MP3 player on the market.
I haven't planned it out yet, either. Because I'm switching majors, I can expect to take a lighter Calc class, Literary analysis English, and a C++ class. Beyond that, I haven't a clue. I'm going to shoot for 12-14 credit hours, though. I'll probably end up in a boring class like Macroeconomics, though.

Yeah, right now I'm just trying to get through THIS semester! I'll figure the next one out later.

| Same here. I'll be glad when my first semester is officially over with, though I do really enjoy my classes.
Well, it just occurred to me that I haven't posted pictures of my music gear on here, so I guess it's time to do that. The first pic is of my guitars(a Agile AL2000 silverburst and a Epiphone PR100 acoustic), amp, distortion pedal, keyboard, electronic drum pad etc. It was taken a couple months ago, before I bought my Vox wah pedal.
The second pic is of my desktop PC that I use specifically for recording music. On top of the monitor is my MobilePre USB interface as well as MXL 990 and 991 mics. Very nice stuff and gets the job done.

| Keyboards, it's been on and off for 7 years. I have little ability at it, but since it's a requirement to play it for my music theory class, I'm trying to get back into it, lol. As for guitars, on and off for 3 years. I started in December 2004 with that acoustic guitar, stopped playing for a while, got back into it, stopped playing for a while, got back into it, bought the Agile (silverburst) guitar in Feb 2006, played it for a while, then recently stopped because I didn't have the time with all my college coursework. Now that I'm down to 12 credit hours, I have a lot more free time, so I'm going to be playing my guitar more often.
Nope, haven't posted any songs, yet. I did a rough draft recording of Free Fallin' by Tom Petty and put it up on a myspace music page I have. It was mainly done just to test out my newish recording gear, so it kinda sucks, lol. But I have posted my lyrics on my MySpace page. I should probably put up some here for critiquing. I actually started writing lyrics 6 months before I took up the guitar.

What style(s) would you say you write/play?

| Yeah, I'll be sure to do that.
I'd say I probably play a bit classic rock, a bit modern rock. The stuff I play on guitar is some old school stuff (Tom Petty), some 90s stuff (Stone Temple Pilots) and some newer stuff (Sanctus Real, Creed). I'm a fan of the heavily distorted sound of metal, the slightly cleaner sound of modern rock and the occasional acoustic sound.
I have probably 50+ song lyrics written and what I'd like to do is begin recording music using those lyrics as the basis for the songs. I want to form a band, but right now, I might just stick to doing stuff solo. I need to work on training my voice, lol.

Ha, yeah, I can't do falsetto so well anymore.....I could probably learn/relearn how to though....

| I have problems singing in a really high range, lol. I can sing lower, but not higher. And I'm a girl! I think it might be possibly because I had my tonsils removed 5 months ago and my voice changed a little bit. So I need to work on training it and getting it back to where it was before, if not better.
Well, I am officially out of the Calc class! I hate that I wasted $300, but it's such a relief to not have to worry about it anymore (at least until the Winter semester). Now I can concentrate on my other 4 classes and can really apply myself to each of them to get really good grades. Oh yeah, not to mention the fact that I can spend more time pursuing other interests like web design and music.
