We took them with our first, and I thought that they were worthwhile. Ours were taught by a labor&delivery nurse who was herself pregnant. There are a lot of myths about childbirth that are very pervasive and it helps to know some things that are closer to what you'll probably experience. We also got to see some of the tools/instruments that are used in a hospital delivery (an epidural kit is quite something to look at - I've been in and around medicine for a while and I nearly passed out, yet my wife who HATES needles didn't think it looked too bad when it came time to possibly use one in reality...). We also got to tour L&D hospital "rooms" (more like suites here) and met quite a few other couples in the same situation. I'd say it was a good experience overall.

For our 2nd, we kinda knew what was coming and what needed to be done, so we didn't re-do the class.

Nate

Same here. First child, the classes were essential. Especially because we used a midwife. Second kid, skipped class.
