How do you tell the gender of a guitar?

A while back I was thinking of a name for my guitar. But in order to name him/her/it, I need to know his/her/its gender! How do you tell? do you look inside the hole? I don't want to embarrass him/her/it; I just want to know. Any suggestions on the name thing?

now i have another question

are guitars more like pets or like people? Pets, like, say pet goldfish or birds (never really know the gender), or are they like babies (if you don't know the gender when you're around the mom or dad you're in trouble)?

I think people tend to name their guitars/instruments/cars/etc. by the gender that is opposite of theirs. Like a guy would name their whatever with a girl name and a girl would name theirs with a guy name...somethin' like that.

I'm thinkin' I like Brent's idea. But I've never really named my guitar. I should probably get on that...

new idea for guitar names!!

Pokey had a new idea for naming guitars.....she said her guitar is named Zebra! naming it after animals...i guess that means that guitars are like genderless animals...

i had 3 guitars and they all ended up with guy's names...however, my best friend named her guitar "betty" so the opposite theory doesn't always work. i almost named my last guitar "louise" but ended up going for "big blue" because it's as blue as it can be...the point? just name it whatever you want
