Why would you want to prevent trials if you think they're blessings from God and build your faith?

I'm not really sure I try to prevent trials. I try not to do stupid things that give me trials, which I guess is trying to avoid them. It's more of trying to do the right thing, instead of the thing I really want to do. I think most trials we face we bring on ourselves. I just try to keep one step ahead of myself as much as I can.

I know where you are trying to head with this, but the difference as I see it is that most trials I have faced in my life were when I tried to do things my way. I don't want to head that direction, I'd much rather keep going God's way. Trials come all the time, after all we live in a fallen world. To hide yourself from the world would prevent quite a few trials I'm sure, but it would make you useless as a Christian. I don't want hard times, but I'm not going to go to any great measure to hide from them either. They will come, and when they do I try my best to see them as God's way of growing me in to what He wants me to be.

I was thinking about this today, and it occured to me that it isn't the trial itself that is the blessing, it is God helping you to make it through the trial that is the blessing.

To some, having a baby at any time other than when they are "ready" is a trial. However, no matter how you look at it, children are always blessings and gifts from God, even when having them is a trial.

Okay, here's how we made our decision:

Conception yields an embryo. According to the little research my wife and I have done, every form of birth control pill thins the uterine wall, making implantation of a viable embryo much less likely. The only other thing that the birth control does to prevent pregnancy is prevent ovulation. So, if ovulation occurs, there's nothing to stop fertilization from occurring, and if that happens, you've got an embryo with nowhere to grow.

Now, that was enough for Heather and I not to go back to the pill after Halina was born. We didn't want to use anything that was intended to prevent implantation. Yes, condoms are annoying, and latex can cause issues, but the polyurethane ones are not nearly as bad. Our plans are for me to have a vasectomy very soon.

Not how Peter says it. He says to count the trial a joy.

Yes, the trial is a joy....coming through the trial with God's help is a blessing. The growing of your faith I also consider a blessing.
