Greetings from the Hudson Valley

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself. I love the guitar and I'm slowly learning. Mostly, I mess around on it for relaxation. Apart from that I'm an amateur guitar builder having recently completed my first guitar build.

I got interested in guitar building and guitar design due to chronic back pain and tendinitis. I started to explore these in search of a guitar with better ergonomics.

Aside from all that, I enjoy a variety of music - blues, rock, gypsy jazz. I'm looking forward to participating on the forum.

Regards,

Rob

Welcome to CGR. That's quite an interesting guitar build there. You'll find yourself at home down in the guitar forums.

Welcome, Rob!

That's a nifty looking guitar there. Let me know if you find a perfect build for someone with back pain and tendinitis. I actually suffer from some serious shoulder pain caused by playing a large guitar, so would be very interested in seeing what you discover!

If you're suffering from shoulder pain, you should be looking to play a guitar that brings your arm closer to your body. This will reduce the strain on the shoulder. I've suffered from this as well. You don't say but I'm going to assume you're playing an acoustic since this is more of an issue with them than electrics which tend to be rather slim. Take a look at this design by Linda Manzer which seeks to address this issue with the acoustic guitar - The Wedge Guitar. This design element has been adopted by several other luthiers as well but Linda is the originator of the concept.

Regards,

Robert
