Unproffesionalism

I have recently aquired a new job at winn-dixie. I think I will enjoy it, but they have already done some rather unprofessional things. For example, when they wanted me to come into orientation, they did not tell me themselves. They told a friend of mine, who in turn gave me incorrect information, and they then repremanded her for it.

They brought me in for training today, and fussed at me for not having a drug test, that they didn't tell me I had to have. This seems petty now that I write it, but you have to understand: This is a very important weekend for me. I have a halo tournament that me and my team have waited a long time for. They only let me know about orientation like, three days before I had it, and they hired me over a month ago.

Is this the norm for the employed world? I would not know. This is my first job.

Seriously, do you have a Publix nearby your house? They are a far better place to work than WD....and they are not bankrupt.

Very unprofessional. They hired you a month ago and are just now having you do orientation? Next, they should have contacted you personally to inform you of what you needed to have done before starting work there and when your orientation was. Their HR people should be reprimanded or fired.

Unfortunately, that is the norm. Not because being employed sucks, but because most people don't care, and thus do not do their jobs. Take it from me: Get out, get out, dear God, please get out. Find a competent employer who is Johnny-on-the-spot.

Thanks for the advice guys. I will look around. Unfortunately, WD is the only place that's hiring. Oh well. I have only met one mean manager so far, so that is a plus.

Haha. Actually, their CEO brought them out of bankruptcy not long ago.
