I know a guy who used to go to a very small high-school, he played varsity football and during half-time he marched with the band in his pads... He's said on many occasions that if he had to choose he'd choose band over football because it was easier... (he played tuba btw)...
Band may be more challenging simply because you have to be able to play your instrument while marching in a pattern... I honestly can say that I don't have that kind of concentration.
But do not say that it's more physically challenging until you run up and down a field and slam into each other running as fast as you can for almost an hour.... |
To be fair football players don't play a hour straight. You've got about an 8 second play...and then a 15-30 sec. break sometimes. Sure a lot of times it's pretty continuous such as no-huddle and it's all out sprinting.
Also I haven't been in Marching band, but I've been in regular band playing the trombone. I have played football (and basketball, & soccer). I'd actually argue that soccer is more physically challenging than football. But I guess neither is really the "hardest", they're just different.
But I would have to agree that Marching Band seems like it would be very challenging both mentally & physically.
