I see nothing wrong with eloping. I didn't/wouldn't do it.

I don't think a case can made scripturally for/against it.

I know that some families would have a really tough time with it but to be honest...the entire idea behind marriage is to leave your family of origin and create a new family.

Financially...weddings can be a burden. People often spend WAY too much on them and I personally think it's senseless.

I do think the idea of running off and getting married "in secret" is odd. I can see why people would want to go off by themselves and have a minimal ceremony but I wanted my family there.

I guess we have to say, "to each his own" when we discuss something like this.
