for those seeking critique...

just want to throw it out there, if you want people to critique your voice, dont play an instrument or anything to accompany it (we know you're trying to cover it up), dont be afraid, let us hear your beautiful voices so we may be able to critique you in the best way!

I don't mind the instrumental part in there as long as it is not too loud and allows the vocal part to stand out. My advice is, if you record with an instrument, do it on a multi-track recorder like Audacity or Krystal so you can adjust the levels.

That's what I try to do - I find it helps me a bit with the timing when I've got an instrument in the background, and it gives me a key to stick to - even if I can't keep perfectly on pitch, it's probably better than it would be if there was no instrument in there.

Just keep the instrumentation low enough and your voice loud enough to be heard.

Also, this is not needed.
