So I'm looking for really good soft and hard chalk pastels, as well as the pencil variety. What are the best? If the best are extremely expensive, what's the next level that's pretty awesome but won't burn a hole in my wallet?

When it comes to sticks, I use the top student quality ones in store and they work well for me. The brand is Micador, I'm fairly sure.

As for pastel pencils, I'd probably go for a set of Derwents, but that just happens to be amazingly expensive (I saw a 24 pack for around $60). I've not yet considered getting any pastel pencils, because I find that working in collaboration with soft pastel sticks and prismacolour pencils works perfectly fine.
