OK. I stand by my statements...IMO the Firepod or VF160 are your 2 best options. If you don't want to get something because it might be hard to learn, then recording might not be something you want to dive into

but you don't understabd, the ones you suggestec are ouch of my price range, and dude, i know every recording piece will be somewhat difficult to learn, but i didn't say if its not easy i'm not gonna record. Recording is something i want to dive into, its just that my PREFERENCE is something not so pricey and not the most difficult of them.

The firepod and that used VF160 were around $499.

The cheapest package you listed was 499 as well?

and for the fostex and the tascam i'm looking at, i'm am still confused about how i'd record my gutiar on it, becuase i don't use pedals, all my sound is from my line 6 spider 2. I can't really mic that amp, it has 2 speakers, and i'd just be using the mic that set came with, or i'd buy a separate one if i bought the fostex.
If i got a http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...ler?sku=420880 do you think if i had my settings from my amp saved on that board, i could just run through that board into the recorder?

Why wouldn't you be able to mic you Line 6? You can mic it with one mic even if it has two speakers. The majority of the effects used today aren't in stereo or anything. You can always just put the mic between the speakers and out about 6 inches or so and get the whole signal, just not in stereo. Guitars aren't usually recorded in stereo from a single cab anyway. If it's in stereo it's usually either two different cabs or the same parts recorded twice and panned hard left and right.

ok, thanks, and "in stereo" you mean just recorded straight into the machine rather than running through anything first?

No. Recording in stereo means you're using two signals from say two different mics on the same source and blending them together (in context, your amp if it used any stereo effects would need to have both speakers miked, but like Brent said, this won't really be necessary especially for your purposes).

Stereo effects are usually fairly noticeable if you were hearing them. On your amp I would imagine that there's probably a stereo delay, maybe a stereo rotary speaker effect and one or two others. When you're listening with headphones you can tell this by how the sound will pan from your left to right ear back and forth. It's a cool effect, but also one you can accomplish pretty easily recording a mono (left and right are the same) signal and then duplicating the track in your software (or hardware in your case) after the fact and playing with the pan controls.
