Who's your favorite composer for classical guitar?

I've always been partial to Matteo Carcassi.

My guitar teacher has said good things about Villa-Lobos. I'm planning to get some of his stuff in the near future.

Villa Lobos. hands down. I admire that man's writing so so much.

you should listen to his guitar stuff, but also listen to his piano/orchestral stuff. there's one cycle called the Proles de Bebe that is simply amazing; it gives me the chills.

Albeniz wrote for piano, but I love the guitar arrangements of his pieces. the Suite Espagnola is marvelous.

read more books! listen to more classical, jazz and world music! play more other stringed instruments!

I'm probably going to order this. I'm looking forward to getting more familiar with his work.

do it. that is an amazing book. I need to get a copy of it myself, because right now I am working off of photocopies. I've played etudes 11 and 12, and have worked slightly on 1 (or 2. I can't remember which.), 4 and 6. I need to stop being lazy and complete them.

I love the Choros, especially. I think number 3 is my favorite, but I have to double-check on the numbers. that is definitely an amazing book though, and worth every penny you pay.
