songs for missions

So, our church is gonna hold a Mission night where we devote the night to the upcoming mission trips we're gonna have. We invited churches from our communitiy to enjoy a time of praise and worship.

I'll be leading the praise...and i'm very nervous...ahhhhh!!! anyway...i wanted to know what songs would be good to sing that have the focus on mission? any ideas come to mind?

Thank you

I'll assume you're confining it to modern praise and worship?

If not, we had a "Mission Night" service a couple of weeks and the Missions Leader requested us to do Freely Freely. English lyrics on the right. I had never heard it before but it only took a few minutes to get the melody in our heads and go for it. #436 in the Celebration Hymnal. CCLI#13209 in Song Select. It seemed to go over fine and fit the theme of the evening. Might be a little old fashioned though.. Derived from Matt 10:8

Mission's Flame by Matt Redman is the first one that comes to my mind.

if you're up for a challenge and depending on how many team members you have you could do Tell the World- hillsong......also Paint the Town Red- Delirious.....they could take a good bit of work but it would be cool if you pulled it off

To the Ends of the Earth by Hillsong is really good. Here is an excerpt from the chorus:
Jesus I believe in you and I would go to the ends of the earth, to the ends of the earth, for you alone are the son of God, and all the world will see that you are God, that you are God.

Let Creation sing (also by Hillsong) is a mision-minded song too.
Give me a Heart is also a good mission song

beautiful, thank you everyone! If there are more that come to mind please do post. Thanks very much again. I'll be using most of the suggestions. Freely Freely in particular i like....Maybe our team can sorta "modernize" the tune. hehehe

LOL. Are you poking fun at me?

I was actually embarassed to have suggested that one. We did in fact spruce it up with the full praise band treatment. In spite of my initial doubts, it didn't sound half bad once you laid on some guitar, drums and bass.

Prayers for your service regardless of which song you do.

God of Justice (chorus goes 'we must go') by Tim Hughes. Used it for a weekend retreat before our CU mission week.

I would second most, if not all of the above, especially To The Ends of The Earth, If You Say Go, and Mission's Flame

4 suggestions of my own...

1. Multiply Your Love by Andy Park/Vineyard (on the CD "Change Me From the Inside")

2. Shout Your Fame by Hillsong London (excellent if you're looking for a more rock feel)

3. Here Am I, Lord by Dan Schutte... This is a modern hymn, and probably the best song on missions I've ever heard done for a worship context. There is an excellent version on this CD if you can find it somewhere (or order it for only $3 on Amazon)

4. Where You Lead Me I Will Follow by Monique Tute/Vineyard... beautiful song... you can get it for free here
