Boy, was this thread nasty for moment there. But I agree. Kutless bores me to tears, and their guitarist who wears striped shirts and pants cut off 6 inches above the top of his Chuck Taylors...those shoes deserve better. Me and that dude are gonna mosh. And no one say a word. Grrr.

I'd say I was bored. I'm not a guitar player.

Kutless is generic rock with no talent. I know about the prs concert: I wouldn't be caught dead on stage with kutless, and I've only played guitar for 2 months. Kutless can be played with one finger. They deserve credit if they are devoted to god, but that alone doesn't give them the right to the crazy amount of radio play and stuff they get. What Kutless says about christian music is what churches and youth groups say about christians, go figure.

"We aren't supposed to be a bunch of mind numbed zombies walking around blindly supporting everything with the label "Christian" attached to it."

Which is how this band makes money, and why more and more bands are trying to get away from the CCM image. I think that in this day, "christian" bands are not called "christian" because of their belief in Christ, but because of their marketing to the above mentioned people. Many bands are simply trying to say that their music and lyrics prove their worth, and that they aren't just out to slap Jesus's name on an album and sell stuff regardless of quality, which I personally think is a poor trick, and almost taking the lords name in vain.

I apologize if this is off topic, but I had to get it out.

Lastly, if you think kutless is dry/repetitive/unoriginal, try dayoffire.

I'd also like to say that I'm not trying to be a super-critical person, but people who aren't called to the ministry of music, probably should take some more time finding their spiritual gifts. I'm not trying to say that anyone who cant make groundbreaking 5star cd's shouldn't ever play an instrument or whatever, but kutless has gone too far, and in a world full of people more critical than me, it doesn't look too good for Christians.

Any thoughts?

but kutless has gone too far,
"Too Far", as in: "I can't go see them...it's 'too far' ", too far 'to the dark side' ", "too far from anything that I like", too far in saying 'Kutless is the best' " (lol)..... , .

I am not attempting to flame on you CDB, but asking if a band has gone too far is "too" dramatic of a question, and the answer to that question is a matter of opinion. e.g. Some have said that (Bob) Dylan went "too far" when he went "electric".....whereas, I would say ( in my opinion) that Dylan went "too far" when he opened his mouth and tried to sing .

The df household still loves the Strong Tower cd. I am not interested in debating who "is the best", I just know what I like, and I like what I know.

Yes, Day Of Fire is FANTASTIC, but, that is for another thread.

Take Care
Enjoy Your Kutless
Never Listen To Kutless Again

Which is why you couldn't play with them. Have you ever really played any of their songs with one finger? Please make a video and post it here, that would be quite interesting.

DavidFrank: when I said too far, I mean too far in terms of a ratio of "talent" (whatever that may be) to radio play and record sales. I will admit that this is debatable because they aren't ALL OVER the radio, but they get a fair amount of playtime, and their records haven't gone 7X platinum, but I'm sure much of what they have sold has been on the premises of people wanting a "christian" alternative. I also saw kutless propaganda everywhere about this time last year. I'll also agree with you that strong tower was a decent praise/rock blend album, and enjoyed the spin the kutless spin they put on some of their songs.

To Monkeysmile: I actually can play all of "hearts of the innocent" with one finger, besides the solo. I'm also am considering putting a video of "somewhere in the sky" on youtube (with one finger) to entertain whoever has to go through all the middle schoolers playing on their squires.

To axguitar: yes I'll shut up now

with that, I'm content with never seeing this thread again (and I apologize for not recognizing that it was old)
