Engaged

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and was told to check this subforum out. I got engaged last semester...anyone have any advice for a wedding/honeymoon or general advice for marriage?

good advice...hmm

1. Insults to your spouse builds character
2. A good punch to the face builds muscle tone
3. Don't listen to your spouse, it only wastes time (see #2 if they don't shut up)
4. Don't take advice from me

Congratulations and enjoy it. Don't stress out about the little things. Wedding date?

As cool as it could be to suprise her for the honeymoon, if you don't know her well enough, what seems like a great time to you might be a bad time for her. I found no shame in discussing honeymoon plans with my (then) fiancee.

Yeah. I wouldn't be marrying her if I didn't know her well enough, lol. We talked about where we'd like to go. My mother works for Marriott, so we can get really good rates at resort hotels.

well...there's certain things about a woman that you won't know until after marriage.

The reason I said what I said was because my wife knew a couple that went camping for their honeymoon. From what I understood she was a fairly outdoorsy girl, but she hated her honeymoon because it wasn't particularly romantic or relaxing.

Ouch. My mom says she went camping with one of her high school boyfriends...when they arrived, he took out a radio, sat in a fold up chair, and told her to start dinner.

Knowing my mom...bad idea.

Anyway, yeah, obviously there are things that have to be experienced. I didn't mean to give the impression that I knew everything about her...if I thought that...wow, have pity on my marriage. I just know to involve her in the decision, lol.

Those Marriott Friends and Family vouchers are splendid. $40 for a $150-200 hotel room is a wonderful thing. Leaves more money for doing more things at your destination.

You work in Reservations? My mother and brother work at the reservation center in Omaha.

Yeah, I get the associate pleasure rate.

We have. We've got a great place in mind...right on the beach, but it's a quiet beach, and we save $1800 because of my discount.
