| Free Music Thread I thought this would be a cool idea. Post links to completely free music that other users can download. Please keep in mind that the music must be legal to download. Post a description of the music if you'd like, it helps. I will edit any links into this first post.
I will start with these; Adam Rides Bikes - Let's Ride Bikes (indie-folk) (submitted by thesteve) Burton Wagner (post-rock/experimental)
Burton creates music with just a guitar and an effects pedal, as well as the occasional sample. He creates some truly beautiful, interesting and emotional music with very little in the way of instrumentation. His first album is based on Henry Darger and his life's work and his second album, A Sentinel's Eyes, is a two song, 60 minute work. A Sentinel's Eyes is one of my very favourite albums of 2006, highly recommended. In the Realms of the Unreal A Sentinel's Eyes - Track 1 A Sentinel's Eyes - Track 2 Section Names For A Sentinel's Eyes Explosions in the Sky - The Rescue (post-rock) (submitted by Gecko of Doom)
Explosions in the Sky offers an entire album (technically an EP, I guess, but it's a long EP) for free on their website. They also offer a song or two from most (if not all) of their commercial albums. Havalina (submitted by ddts)
Havalina's Russian Lullabies album and a 26 song retrospective called We Remember Anarchy. Probably not to everyone's tastes but if it's the kinda stuff you can get into it's good stuff. namelessnumberheadman (submitted by ddts)
namelessnumberheadman have a free ep up (only available on their website) called Pauses, Ums, and Eyebrow Raises. It's 4 covers and it's wonderful. There are also few songs from some of their other albums on the same page. Resources For Free Music Epitonic (submitted by Lee)

Also, for the indie-folk minded, check out my friend's album here: http://www.adamridesbikes.com/download.htm
He wrote, played and recorded all of the music on his own. |

By the way, this thread was a good idea. |

This is a free download of remixes from His Name is Alive's Someday My Blues Will Cover the Earth. It's pretty much a who's who of the underground electronic scene.

Rach found this guy (?) randomly awhile ago, but he's really good. In some ways he sounds like all your favorite post-rock bands mixed together. Imagine Sigur Ros tinged with hints of M83-esque electronica, a bit of Explosions in the Sky, and some GY!BE for good measure. I'm not describing it very well, but it's good nonetheless. |

| This is one of the guys in My Brightest Diamond's live band. He's called Inlets and has a Sufjan-ish indie folk sound. You can download his whole first EP for free off his website: http://www.luvsound.org/
Here's his myspace if you want to sample some songs first: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...endID=21856510 |

| Is Purevolume Legal? I haven't actually downloaded from there because of that question. If it is though they usually have about 1-2 songs per artist. |

| Would it make more sense to compile all the links into one post?
And, yes, purevolume is legal.

Live improvised eltronica-based-music with hammered dulcimer lead and a really good real drummer. Check out "Smarmy Minions".

And, yes, purevolume is legal. | That's what I'm trying to do, but I haven't had enough time over the past few days. |
