I assume your a flame baiter with a name like that. NIN doesn't have an album called '"Closer to God." They don't have a song called that either. They have an album called "The Downward Spiral" and single called "Closer."

Actually, they have a CD single called Closer to God. It just has a few versions of the song "Closer," a version of "Heresy," and a couple other tracks.

I thought they might have a single by that name. However, both punchie and myself specifically used the word album. A single goes against the idea of an album. Album's, back in the day, actually used to be actual albums containing all their singles. Of course, back then a single vinyle only held 2 songs. So you had to album singles together like that. When ALBUMS started being on a single disc, they kept the term.

I am yet again reviving a thread. I just got into NIN and I bought 3 of their albums in the past month or so. I really enjoy "The Fragile", its just beautiful music in its own kind of way. And Closer is just an amazing song. Thank you for your time.

A new album and tour are happening this year. It's 100% confirmed. As for the tour, I can't really see myself going. I haven't really listened to NIN in two years. I can't take those lyrics as seriously as I could as an adolescent. I would just feel silly being there.

You'd pass up NIN?! I am very optimistic about his new album. He's probably done some maturing, along with the rest of us.

I think so. Those lyrics are a turn off for me. Actually, I will probably go just to see what he's like live, but I won't really be into it, you know. At age 21, my mind won't allow me to get into NIN like I did as a teenager. I'm past that stage.

I think you can count me in for the NIN tour. After watching parts of the dvd it just looks like something that i'd enjoy.

The new album is entitled Bleed Through. He has shed the big rock epic format; instead, Reznor has opted for a stripped down, all killer no filler, 12 track assault. He says it is much heavier than past work.

I can swallow Trent's lyrics quite easily. As asinine as they are at points, he has a few golden nuggets. The musical backdrop is always so deeply textured that "enduring" the lyrics isn't even an issue.

Nice, I am definitely looking forward to that...

What's all the fuss about Trent's lyrics? I haven't gotten into too much NIN, but from what I've heard, the lyrics certainly aren't horrible, and can even be quite splendid at times. ("Starf-ckers, Inc." and "We're In This Together" come to mind; I'm sure there are plenty more that I'm forgetting).

As I said, he has a few golden nuggets.

It's not the technical quality of them that I have issues with. They're too adolescent. Those lyrics sound ridiculous coming from a 30-something year old man. Well, The Fragile's lyrics, anyway. I can still stomach the rest. I just can't enjoy The Fragile. I feel silly being surrounded by lyrics that are so darkly self-depreciative at my age.

Must just be where you live. In Austin you can get the album anywhere and they even sell the singles from that album at Best Buy.

Same here. There's always a Pretty Hate Machine in stock at Circuit City.
