| Each of the guitarists has a different tone in those tunes. But I can tell you that most of that is amp distortion, not pedal distortion. |

Also, an effect wont bring you somebody else's tone, you need the guitar, the amp, the effects, and the guitarist himself. Just try and find a tone you like. Personally, I'd give anything to sound like Brian May of Queen, but that'll never happen. I could even buy a replica of his guitar, a 70's era AC30 (and rip out all the channels except the drive channel), and a trebel booster, and I will still sound nothing like him.
If you want a fuzzy sound, buy a fuzz pedal, but look for your own sound.

If you want a fuzzy sound, buy a fuzz pedal, but look for your own sound. | he must have changed then. i know at one point, his main amp was an AC30.

This negatively affected my tone in ways that I just can't describe.
Then, on a whim, a few years ago I wandered into a Bath and Body Works store at a local mall and picked up some of their gentle foaming anti-bacterial hand cleansers.
The difference in my guitar's sound is so wickedly improved that I no longer feel the need to buy a new amp or pedals or even strings...EVER!
So, it's my belief that tone is in the soap.
Thank you and goodnight. | |

If you want a fuzzy sound, buy a fuzz pedal, but look for your own sound. | you also need a studio that will double your guitar tracks,. hardpan them left, right, and center.
You won't get his recorded tone live. Period.

There's so much studio gear, though, I think it's almost moot to figure out what amp he usually uses anyway, since he might as well be using a different amp for every tune in the studio. |
