I think the only thing that was remotely hardcore about the first CD was the screaming. The riffs were pretty much straight up modern rock, much in the vein of Creed.

The new CD has some harder songs. I think there's probably 3-4 ballads and the rest of it is rock. But I do agree this is their most mainstream album yet.
