| What Do You Harmonize To? The answer for me is: anything that makes even a semblance of musical tone. Doorbells, beeps, and air compressor motors, among other things.
My room mates and I have been known to break out in three-to-eight-part harmony when someone honks their car horn (being the music majors that we are). I, being the jerk that I am, always feel it necessary to throw on the 9th or major 7th.
So when and where do you harmonize? |

| I like to try to hum a pitch that matches a naturally occuring pitch and produce that funny like vibrating sound that happens in such circumstances.

| As a baritone, I don't harmonize to much. My voice sits kinda low so it's hard for me to get a third or a fifth up from a lot of noises. My friend who is a tenor harmonizes with me in the car. We sing along to songs with distinct harmonies... We sorta have a reputation for doing crazy stuff like that.

What is even better is making a pitch that is about 15-20 cents higher than said natural sound. Haha, drives people nuts, especially music majors. |

| Sadly, I have not such a gift for pitch.

| I love "harmonizing" a minor 2nd above things just to annoy people. |

| Haha, semi-tones are fun too. My friend and I do that in choir sometimes, just to annoy the director. (because she knows NOTHING, I know much more about music than she does) |

| That must be horrible.
I suppose I am blessed(?) then. The choral director at my school is an absolute genius. The guy plays Vivaldi in jazz style, then he tells us that he is "not in good voice" and proceeds to falsetto a D5 effortlessly. And he is not young, either. |

Being an alto I have a great ability to harmonize with most anything. People expect me to sing harmony along with the radio or whatever but they never expect me to harmonize a semi-tone above a microwave.

I was singing some Tavener earlier today to the pedal point drone of a freezer motor. |

Our current director doesn't even know how to conduct in anything outside of 3/4 or 4/4. She even messes up in cut time. It's pathetic. |
