Ice In Texas :)

So... we rarely ever get freezing temperatures here in Texas... but when it does freeze, and we get ice, we get bored since everything shuts down. Needless to say, when you're bored, it's amazing what your imagination can do...

If you'll go to my latest blog post you'll see all the pictures of what we did to my car.

(Oh, and the picture of my car made it on the local news.)

Now... share your fun snow/ice experiences.

It is my opinion that there is no such thing as a fun snow/ice experience.

But I did build a snowman taller than myself. That was kinda fun, I suppose....

We had about 1/2" ice accumulation around here, so power was out in most places, and trees were down everywhere. It was fun taking the four-wheeler out.

It is cold and rainy here... just a few degrees cooler and I would have had snow.

even though we had ice monday and snow wednesday, I still had to work, my normal 40 minute drive took me 1.5 hours to make.

I almost had to take my wife to work yesterday. Her boss finally said to not come in. For that I'm glad. I remember when we had that really bad storm a couple of years ago and my wife having to drive home in it. What normally takes her about 40 minutes took her 5 and a half hours.

Well this is ironic. The entire country it seems is getting snow. We've had an inch at most in the southern part of West Virginia. The snow fall gets smaller and smaller each year for us We get alot of rain though It was in the 70's last week here

I have lots of snow and ice experiences. Winter in this part of the world lasts six months.

The most common is finding a nice, big parking lot late at night and doing some doughnuts. Do it while you still can.

that sounds like fun, the doughnuts, not the 6 months of winter, but be glad you don't live in Northern Alaska!

I like winter. Skating on frozen lakes, walking through the Old City when the rooftops are white, and there's a light snowfall. When I was young, my dad used to flood part of the back yard, and I'd skate and play hockey until I had to go to bed. Most of my best childhood memories were recorded in the winter.

Speaking of going North, last year, I volunteered to go to CFS Alert. The most northern inhabited place on Earth. The Inuit call it "Inuit Nunangata Ungata" or "People of the Land Beyond the Land Beyond the Inuit." That would have been fun. But they didn't let me go.
