| If since 1865: Prohibitionist movements in America, and their impact on the cultures surrounding what they were trying to prohibit. It's got a lot of variety, it's something very few people know about, and it's got plenty of room for controversy.
If during 1865: Political and social developments regarding slavery in the post-war South. Again, something most people don't know about, provides a lot of variety, and plenty of room for controversy.

| I'd do something about the issues revolving the transition of the American economy after the Civil War. Make it fun and find some ridiculously specific topic, like H.M. Murdock's 2nd idea.
Is this an upper division or just a general class?

| I chose US Neutrality in World War 1.
I am attempting to trace American policies toward Britain and Germany and compare them with accepted international law. You can read a draft of my short version in the college life forum.
This topic is greatly facsinating, because most all the major works on hte topic were written in the late 30's and early 40's so alot have a specific ideological purpose behind them, should the US attempt to stay neutral in this European war? |
