Punisher: War Zone

Apparently, sometime this year, The Punisher 2 will be released in theaters. Here's some details;

"In March 2006, The Punisher 2 was announced to be produced in Louisiana. The film was listed in the domestic charter under Lousiana's Secretary of State. In August 2006, Marvel Entertainment revealed a new film slate that included The Punisher 2 on its partial list with production still to be determined. Thomas Jane said that the writer was halfway through a draft and that he believed filming would begin by February 2007. Jane confirmed that the villain Jigsaw, first announced in April 2004, would be in the film. Jane also said that director Jonathan Hensleigh would not be returning to direct the sequel. In addition, Lions Gate Entertainment, amidst the studios returning to New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, announced that The Punisher 2 would begin filming within the year. In October 2006, Thomas Jane said the script was due in a couple of weeks, and that it would be "darker, bloodier and more unfriendly than the first one". In December 2006, the screenplay was being rewritten by screenwriter Stuart Beattie."

Sounds good to me. I'm gonna make an attempt to go see it. What does everyone else think?

Heehee. I still need to go watch the first one.

Regardless, I'm pumped for this one. Thomas Jane is awesome.

I loved the first one, it is one of the only action movies I have seen which had a decent story to it. With any luck the talented jane will pull off another super preformance.

Are you talking the old one which is definitely bad (poor production, awful script, and acting that fell apart in scene one), or the new first one? If so what was wrong with it?

The Punisher (the new one ) was amazing. It seemed like the point of the movie was "how many different ways can we kill people?"
I am not sure how it could be much darker, bloodier, or more unfriendly.....but they can sure try!

Have you seen the director's cut? It adds a subplot that is really dark.

So I should definitely take my meds beforehand should I decide to see it. The first (of the new ones) was brutal.

Yikes! I finally got to see the first one and the next one is going to be darker and more unfriendly!?! The first one was that and more.

"I made you kill your wife. I made you kill your best friend." How much more dark can you get?

Mind you, I like the character of The Punisher and I think the did him more justice in the first movie than they did with Dolph whathisname.

Director's Cut Spoilers:
They cut an even darker subplot. In the director's cut we find out that the black guy that the Punisher is friends with at the beginning of the movie is the one that sold him out (there is also an "animated" scene of the Punisher saving him in the Gulf War). So Castle follows him around talking about their friendship and loyalty. In the end when Castle is certain that it was him that betrayed him, he meets him in his room and forces him to commit suicide. It took things to an entirely different and unpleasant level.

I haven't seen the new one...Thomas Jane just wasn't a big enough person to really interest me in the movie.

Dolph Lundgren was just larger than life. Regardless of acting ability, I thought his size was more fitting for the role.

I saw the first one, and I'll skip the second one. Too violent for my taste.

Thomas Jane, dyed his hair. (Commitment).. And Well, he was tantabulous acting!! Oh my goodness. There was something uberly amazing about that movie. It wasn't just.. "Killing everyone who pissed you off by blowing their head in" It was.. intelligent. Using mind tactics and creative killing. It was awesome. So I hope the second just ups it.
