I most certainly am not disappointed that you are the first poster in my journal! I feel quite honored. In fact, I was afraid that mine would be the only journal that you did not post in.
Whenever I see your name, I smile.
How about posting for all time that self portrait of yours here in my journal? Would you be willing to post your cartoon here?
Welcome! Thanks for stopping by. Pleasant dreams to you!

| The most current thing that I need to get off of my chest is that I just read a Catholic book review on the book about the "Gospel of Judas."
My first reaction was that anything called the Gospel of Judas had to be bunk.
So, according to the Catholic article, it is pure bunk. It is a false teaching that has been around since about the year 200.

| The Funeral of President Ford I watched the funeral of President Ford.
The news reported that 40 percent of our population had not yet been born when President Ford was in office. I am part of the 60 percent of the population that was alive when we had President Ford.
To me, President Ford was never a real president because we did not elect him to be our president. My husband said that Ford was the leader of the GOP at the time and so, according to our system, Ford was the next Republican in line to be President. I guess that makes his position legitamate then.
Even after all of the nice things that people said about him, even though I know that it was the Christian thing to do, I still think that it was inappropriate for President Ford to pardon Richard Nixon. It should have been a Democrat who pardoned Nixon. The way that it happened, it just made a shady deal look all the worse.
It is interesting to note that we have a giant church that we use when we bury all of our Presidents. The funeral was very Christian indeed.
Eulogies were given by : Presidents Bush 1 and 2, Kissinger and Tom Brokaw. I would like to have copies of the speaches of Kissinger and Bush 2. Maybe I can find them on the web! (Looked = nothing *pout*)
Kissinger basically blasted everone by complimenting Ford. Bush 2 did the same thing a couple of times and then ended his speach, as usual, by giving the glory to God and saying that we all should thank the Almighty for giving us the life of President Ford. I really like President Bush. I like his leadership style. He sets goals for us. He points the way.
From the top of my head, Kissinger said that Ford laid the foundation for the cold war to be won. He said that Ford did not try to avoid serving his country. When the country came under attack, Ford joined right up and put his life at risk to defend our nation. (or did Bush say that one? *shrug*)
The themes that kept recurring during the funeral were:
Integrity
Honor
Duty True humanitarian Real Christian
Humility
Never complaining
Not running from a problem
Ford did not seek to be President but when our country needed him, he stepped up to the plate.
An honorable man.
I think that is what I keep looking for. I keep looking for integrity and honor. I remember when a handshake was better than signing a contract and a person's word actually meant something.
The Clintons were there. They sat there shamelessly as always. It just about kills me to know that my fellow countrymen/ women will vote Hillary into the office of President. Sadly, I know that even if she loses the next election, she will be back again 8 years later. I do not think that she will lose. I think that people are so put off by the war in Iraq that they will vote for the scoundrels Clinton and Bill will become the first, first man they will take over our White House and that will make them happy. I am ashamed of my country because of the Clintons. At least Nixon did leave his office. Kissinger said that Ford did not become president out of his own ambition. (hint, hint)
Anyway, on closer analysis, I find that it is honorableness that I am searching for. Where has it gone? That is why I draw great encouragement when several leaders of our country stand up there saying honorable things. Are they a dying breed?
Also, I find it __________ (don't know the word) that in the end, even our greatest men end up in the hands of the clergymen. Even our greatest men end up in the hands of God, begging. It strikes me oddly. How can men be so great and run the world and still be so lowly? Yet, from the very beginning, God decreed this to be so.
I really enjoyed the final prayers spoken by the minister. It was something to the effect of: (this man) (the deceased) a sinner yet redeemed by Your Own doing.
And so, we committed the soul of President Ford into the keeping of the Lord. (as if it were in our power to do so)

| As long as I am on this topic, it is getting on my nerves that everone in the news is trying to push working together down our throats these days. They are the ones who need to get that message, not us. We have been feeling that way for years and years. We will see how closely they follow their own advice the next time a smear campaign comes up.

| More about news/Beezer issue The title is supposed to read: Geezer issue
What ever happened to:
Who?
What?
When?
Where? and
How?
As I recall, when I was going to school they used to train opinions out of people. A reporter was never to allow their own personal bias to enter into an article. there is a specific place in the newspaper which is set aside for opinions. The rest of the time, opinions are supposed to be supressed.
Years back, I subscribed to Newsweek. It was nothing but opinions. I got tired of it and stopped buying the thing. Newsweek was liberal.
Now, I am tying the National Review which is conservative. I must confess that I have always liked William F. Buckley Jr.!!! I love the way his eyes flash when he speaks! He always seemed to be in the know. I wonder how he always knows everything??? So, when I received a funny sales letter from Buckley, I could not resist trying his magazine. It, too, is heavy laden with attitude. National Review is meant to be full of attitude but heavy attitude makes things very hard for me to understand.
It would be much easier for me to understand if people would just say things straight up.
I read some magazines from the 60s. The writing was much better back then. Old directions packed with appliances used to be easy to understand too! Something has gone terribly, terribly wrong.

| Hip Hip Hooray! Miss ff opened the Inn for guests. I am delighted to be here.
I heard bits and pieces of former President Ford's funeral. I don't quite know what to think of it. I've been a typical Canadian in some things in that my main response to US politics is thank God I don't have to live with that. (not that we don't have our scandals and such). I'm having to rethink that though now that Guthrie is such an important part of my life.
The thing about directions being difficult to understand and follow now is (I think) due to all of that being outsourced. It's written in another language and then translated.
I want to go wake Guthrie up so that we can cuddle for a little while before we need to head off to school.

Now, that I have opened an inn, I will need to decorate. I will need a lounge and a fireplace. I will need to hire a band each weekend.
I suppose that I will need to invent games the way that Lee does. I hope that the mods will not think that I am too cheap for doing it.
Here is one game that I invented:
What group is this?
1. a type of screwdriver
2. sounds like something that beer comes in
3. rhymes with bean
You can make up puzzles too if you would like.
